Image
Courtesy : "Eurasian times" post by Let-know As per latest reports, China could be close to developing indigenous engines for its J-20B fighter jets. If Beijing succeeds in achieving this milestone, it will join the likes of the US, Russia and France and EU which have mastered this technology. (Tejas pilot equipped with Elbit  HMD  & he is signaling ground crew that he is "Good to go") Amid India-China tensions, experts have often compared Chinese J-20 stealth jets with Indian LCA Tejas. China recently started to mass-produce its J-20 jets while India is also betting big on indigenous Tejas. Both the jets, however, depend on foreign engines. Meanwhile, India is trying to achieve the same feat for its Tejas fighter jet but remains decades behind. The Kaveri engine for LCA Tejas has faced constant obstacles as the thrust to the weight ratio was found to below-required figure for Tejas jet. Experts claim that Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement in the parliament last year declaring Aksai Chin as an integral and inseparable part of Jammu and Kashmir irked China more than ever. According to China Expert – M. Taylor Fravel, India’s decision to make Ladakh a Union Territory and gain direct control over Aksai Chin had a “strong impact” on how Beijing viewed India’s resolve in the dispute and may have culminated in the Ladakh stand-off. Army: How Red Tape Delayed the Procurement of Lightweight Tanks Until After Ladakh Faceoff

Image
by Let-know (Russian made 2S25M Sprut - SDM1  light Tank, possible successor for Indian light Tank procurement) The Indian army’s recently announced emergency procurement of light, air-transportable tanks to augment its firepower in Himalayan regions like Ladakh, was first mooted in 2009. This happened soon after the country’s military planners shifted their strategic focus from Pakistan to the security threat posed by China. Consequently, the army had issued a global request for information (RFI) for 200 wheeled and 100 tracked light tanks, weighing 22 tons each, which no doubt will now be dusted and recycled in an attempt to fast-track this long-proposed acquisition. The tank numbers, however, are expected to vary, senior armoured corps officers told The Wire. The 2009 light tank RFI had required the modularly constructed platforms to be ‘highly manoeuvrable’ with surveillance and communication capability, to provide the tanks flexibility for multi-purpose operations. India Has Military Edge Over China: US Think Tanks

Image
by Let-know (picture is only for representation) Does China have military edge over India? No, its a misconception say reports. India has come a long way since 1962. If China says dont forget the history, we also say the same to them. While de-escalation talks are on, some experts are working overtime to prove that in case of war, China’s military power is far superior to that of India. They claim that the People’s Liberation army (PLA) has a decisive edge over the Indian army because of its numerical strength, infrastructure in the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) abutting the Line Of Actual Control (LAC) as well as weaponry. Chinese media too has been mocking India on its perceived inferiority in weapons and logistics. But does the ‘conventional wisdom’ of China’s superior military strength hold water? Recent studies done by Belfer Centre at the Harvard and the Centre For A New American Security (CNAS) have a different picture to share. These researches suggest that India has an edge ov...
